Age Divisions Junior: 15 & under, Youth: 16–18, “A”: 19–30, “A1”: 31–40, “A2”: 41–50, “B1”: 51–60, “B2”: 61–70, “C1”: 71–80, “C2”: 81 & over.

Solo Exhibitions

Age divisions are the same as for single dances. Maximum time allowed: 2.5 minutes. Music will fade out after allotted time. Syllabus step restrictions do not apply to Solo Exhibitions. One routine in any one division. Maximum of 2 routines total per student. For all solo exhibitions music must be supplied on CD.

Showcase

Students dancing with 2 or more professionals

Cabaret – Theatre Arts:

Any dance, can include lifts and interpretive choreography

American Style  -  Any and All Dances (indicate if Medley)

International Style  -  Any and All Dances (indicate if Medley)

Pro/Am Scholarship Championships

A student may enter 2 age divisions in the “Closed” and “Open” Scholarship Championships and may dance up one level (example, Bronze and Silver or Silver and Open). NOTE: Previous winners of a Can-Am Closed Bronze 3-Dance event are not eligible to compete again in the same event in any age level. In order to enter a Scholarship, a student must dance single dances in that same category.

Closed Three-Dance Championships (Restricted syllabus)

Closed Scholarship Awards: 1st — $250, 2nd — $150, 3rd — $100, 4th–6th – $50 Can-Am Vouchers
Age Divisions: (Ladies & Gents combined) “A” – 16–35, “B” – 36–50, “C” – 51–64, “SR” – 65 and up

Open Scholarship Championships (No syllabus restrictions)

Open Scholarship Awards: 1st — $500, 2nd — $300, 3rd — $200, 4th–6th – $100 Can-Am Vouchers
Age Divisions: (Ladies & Gents combined) “A” – 16–35, “B” – 36–50, “C” – 51 and up

Open Pro/Am DanceSport Series Championships

Age Divisions: (Ladies & Gents combined) “A” – 16–35, “B” – 36–50, “C” – 51 and up (only one age level permitted)

Can-Am DanceSport Gala is proud to be a World Pro/Am DanceSport Series event. Participation at the Can-Am will earn you points to determine your Regional and National Ranking and will score towards the selections for the Team Match at the Ohio Star Ball. The Can-Am is located in Region 7. We invite competitors who reside in any other region to use your accumulated $100 vouchers for up to 50% of your entry fees (maximum 3 vouchers per student) at the Can-Am DanceSport Gala Championships. The top twenty students at the Can-Am will receive a DanceSport Series gold pin and a $100 voucher that can be used towards competition entry fees at any other Series event during the year, located in a region other than your own. Anyone can enter these events whether accumulating Series points or not. Please go to www.dancesportseries.com for more information about the point system and rules.

Youth and Senior Competitors may also enter Adult event. All Amateurs may dance up one level.

**Scholarship awards will be given and amateur cheques will be distributed according to the rules of the country of origin of the couple. The top three (3) ranking couples in each division are awarded the “Can-Am DanceSport” Gold, Silver & Bronze Medallions.

Can-Am Open Professional Championships

The organizers will award $200 per couple reaching the semi-final but not advancing to the final in the Can-Am Open Championships provided a quarter final is required.

Professional Competitions note: Finalists in the Professional Open Events will be introduced separately and enter the floor from the stage to dance a 45 sec. solo. (Within your division).
